Lord of Breaking Through
And David came to Baal-perazim, and he smote them there, and said, The Lord has broken through my enemies before me, like the bursting out of great waters. So he called the name of that place Baal-perazim [Lord of breaking through].
" Lord, I need a Breakthrough!" Pretty much all of us have prayed that at one time or another. Breaking through is part of the nature of God for He is Jehovah Baal-perazim, "Lord of Breaking through." A breakthrough is a significant and dramatic overcoming of a perceived obstacle, or a penetration of a barrier such as an enemy's defense. Now we know the enemy of our souls, HaSatan, sets up everything he can to try to get us out of the perfect will of God :barriers, road blocks, distractions, hindrances, the counterfeit, and mirages. Yes, mirages! The definition says it can be a "perceived obstacle". It looks real until you get up close and see it was all a mirage! That's why we have to look at things through the microscope of the Word of God. In our scripture text, God gave King David a breakthrough, but when read in context, I note David did not make a move without seeking God's counsel first. Before engaging the enemy "David inquired of the LORD, 'Shall I go and attack the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hands?' " David did not lean to his own understanding, he did not do what what right in his own eyes. Only when he got the go ahead from God, did he move and he met with great success as a result. He followed God's directions to the letter even after the success! There was no ," Okay God, I'll take it from here". God was his strategist against a seemingly powerful enemy. The Philistines came against the Israelites again! Has the enemy kept trying to take you out? Just relentless! What did David do? He inquired of the Lord again and He answered David. There is a key! The enemy would love it if you started moving out with what appears to be good ideas without getting the mind of Christ. God gave David detailed instruction: "As soon as you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the poplar trees, move quickly, because that will mean the LORD has gone out in front of you to strike the Philistine army.” We can learn some lessons from King David. God goes out before us, Beloved! He is Jehovah-Nissi, "God our Banner". We learn how King David was dependent on God. We are, too! Like David, we have to be sensitive to the move of God. Can you "hear" the wind of Holy Spirit? Just as the wind rustling in the leaves of a tree can tell us when the wind is approaching, is upon us, and has moved beyond us to other trees, we have to discern Holy Spirit's move. Abba Father leads us by His Spirit, you Trees of Righteousness! Is there a breakthrough blowing your way right now? Maybe you are in the center of God moving on your behalf in this season. Or perhaps you are celebrating your neighbor's breakthrough as the wind of Holy Spirit circuits through ,because you know it will circuit around to you in YOUR area of need, too. Yes, David got the victory, but David was obedient. Are you in need of a financial breakthrough, but robbing God in tithes and offerings? Haggai 1:6 reads such an one, "... earns wages to put them in a bag with holes in it ." Do you desire your prayers to pierce the heavens, (a type of breakthrough), but you have unforgiveness in your heart? There is a brass heaven over them for Abba will not hear your prayers because of the unforgiveness (Mark 11:25). Let it drop, let it go! We forgive as he forgave us. Amen. We desire tsunami-like, "bursting out of great waters" type breakthroughs and our scripture points to absolute obedience. Can God trust you with the victory, the blessings that come with that magnitude of a breakthrough? Will you continue to "inquire" of Him, to be led by Him, to obey Him? The breakthrough is not for you to just sit and enjoy it, you, know! Abba Father has Kingdom priorities in mind. Souls are in the balance! That is why obedience is imperative! And it has to be consistent;King David's major issues, problems, and challenges were rooted in his eventual penchant for disobeying Our Father in heaven. We bless Jehovah Baal-perazim for breaking through by His Spirit and thank God for obedient hearts, led of His Spirit. Amen!
God bless You,
