Play It By Ear

ORIGINALLY POSTED IN 2011

 Play It By Ear

                                                                        The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy;

                                                         he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.

                                                                                                                        Zephaniah 3:17

Grace be to you,

I have always loved piano music and how I wish I could play the musical instrument. I am not a musician, but music moves me deeply. There are some who are naturally gifted even to the degree that they can play an instrument "by ear". To play by ear is to be able to play a piece of music after just listening to it a few times, without looking at the notes. I used the idiom, "play by ear" this morning when making a decision or rather postponing a final decision. "I am not sure what I am going to do yet", I thought. I'll just play it by ear." It is understood that if our lives are not our own, we belong to God, and are bought with a price, we cannot just up and make decisions without entreating the Lover of our souls. I heard the Spirit of God say, " So many of my people 'play it by ear', and therein lies the problem!" We have need of patience. Patiently seeking God by His Spirit for direction instead of running willy-nilly off, leaning to our own understanding. Making MAJOR decisions without bringing them before the Lord can lead to spiritual shipwreck.

Playing it by ear! That ear needs to be in tune with God. Ask Abba how to handle it, what to do! If He does not answer, that IS an answer. Patiently stand still until you hear. To continue on with the musician analogy, not all can play without notes. And some people are flat out tone deaf, and cannot carry a tune in a bucket! I believe the reason Abba quickened me about this term is because of definition two (2) for "play it by ear" : To decide one's next steps after one is already involved in a situation. To improvise and decide what to do as you go, on the spur of the moment. How is THAT working out? Well, maybe one can play an instrument such as the piano without looking at the notes, but we are talking about our lives here! Our "notes" are in the Word of God, and that is how He designed it. HE is our song and our praise! We had best be reading the notes! We all can think of a situation in which we know had we had an "ear to hear", rather than playing it by ear, we would have had a better result. After we get ourselves into a fine mess, then we want Abba Father to fix it. Abba is saying, "Seek me before! I gave you a check in your spirit before YOU decided to move forward, "playing it by ear" and now you are off course! Did you not hear me??" To be spiritually tone deaf is to be off beat, out of step, off rhythm, out of tune, out of sync with God! We cannot afford to "play it by ear" says God! I Need His very heartbeat! I want my heart to be in sync with His heart, don't you? He is to set the cadence and rhythm of our lives if anything good is to come of them. God sing a love song over us..."Joy and sing over us"! Abba wants us to join in that song WITH him! Stop impulsively playing it by ear that you might be an instrument in his hands through your obedience. Let us allow Abba Father to be the maestro of our lives that the beautiful song of all songs can be witnessed. Amen. Give ear to Him! Emphasis

HIS! Abba Father is lovingly trying to get our attention in the area of dialogue with Him.

Let he that has ears to hear, hear what the Spirit is saying....specifically to YOU!

Heart Peace,

Prophetess Vickie Lee
